Have you checked your search engine keywords in the past month? Apparently there was some sort of glitch and a lot of the keywords turned to gibberish or in my case repeats of item titles. I have been busy editing these keywords the last week or so.
What are search engine keywords you might be asking? Here is what Ebay says on the keyword page: Below are keywords currently used on your eBay Store pages. You can customize these keywords to increase your chances of potential buyers finding your store pages when using search engines such as MSN, Google, Yahoo, and so on. eBay uses these keywords to create page Titles and Meta Tags.
Here is how to edit these keywords. On your My Ebay page, find the Manage My Store box and click on Manage My Store. Mine is at the bottom of the page.
It will bring up another page. To the left should be a box that says Store Management. In that box, you want to click Search Engine Keywords under Store Design.
You will then land on the Search Engine Keywords page where you can edit your keywords. You want to use words that describe what is in each category but only use that word once. Also, you do not want to keyword spam. For example, if you are selling purses but none of them are Coach, do not use Coach as a keyword. This is what part of my page looks like. I'm not sure if I'm doing it correctly, but it is a lot better than what Ebay had put there.
Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. Ours was horribly messed up. Seems like it's gonna be a pain to fix, but hopefully worth it in the long run.
ReplyDeleteSomeone called into eBay Radio about this last week. Griff said he is pretty certain this is an antiquated part of the site that isn't used anymore. He's checking with tech to be sure and will check back with what he finds out.
ReplyDeleteIt may be antiquated, but the keywords will be better when changed, vs what was there by default I guess. I did part of mine on Monday and finished it up this morning.
