A Tale Of Two Shelves

I found two of these corner shelves on my Facebook Garage Sale group for a steal. I thought they would be great for displaying my collections until they sold on Ebay. They are homemade.

I got them today and decided not to wait for my husband to put them up. How difficult could that be? Well it appears to be more difficult than I thought. After an hour of cussing, I managed to put one up. I'm not sure if it is going to stay up and it will be tragic if it falls, but at least I did it. I'm going to leave the cussing and struggling with the other one to my husband.

What $15 Bought

I have a hard time finding clothes that fit me at the thrift store that I like. They are either too big, too small or fit odd. Today, that changed. I found 2 outfits plus a pair of shoes and a belt for $15

My son, William, graduates high school next Wednesday so I have to decide which outfit I like better. I normally do not wear skirts but if it is going to be hot, that would be a better choice.

Excuse the bad pictures. my mannequin is anorexic and I had to pin the skirt and pants onto her.

A Clown Car and A Vintage Coffee Table

I saw this awesome coffee table on Friday but I did not have enough money to purchase it. I sold some items on FB this pass weekend and I called my sister up asking if she thought a coffee table would fit in her trunk if she pulled the seats down. A few years ago I had bought a coffee table and it fit in the trunk of my Saturn so I was thinking this one would fit in hers. She thought that it might.

So today we went to go get it. It was still there and I asked her again if she thought it would fit. She wasn't sure but since this one guy was eying it up, I quickly grabbed it figuring we could make it work.

Apparently, my sister owns a clown car. The table would not fit in the trunk. She tried putting it in the back seat. No luck. I told her lets try to put it on an angle. We managed to squeeze it in.

How Not To Pack Your Ebay Items

About two weeks ago, I ordered a house shaped shelf that came with some thimbles. I wrote about it here. It arrived in a big size box and I was surprised to see it was shipped First Class mail. I decided to weigh it. It weighed 4 pounds. The label said 3 ounces. I'm not sure how it slipped by the post office and did not arrive postage due. I did not originally pay for shipping as the seller had listed it with free shipping. Anyways, when I opened the box, I noticed the shelf was wrapped carelessly in brown shipping paper and the thimbles were wrapped in tin foil and placed in a plastic sandwich bag. Yes, you read that right. Tinfoil! Honestly, how do you expect anything to arrive safely wrapped in tinfoil?

Needless to say, this is what happened.

I contacted the seller and let her know what happened. She had less than 10 feedback and was new to selling. I let her know you can only ship First Class mail if the package weighs 13 ounces or less. I showed her the pictures and stated how disappointed I was that they broke. I asked her if she had any others she could replace them with. She did not and refunded me $5. It was nice of her to give me the refund but had she just bubble wrapped the thimbles, this could have been avoided.

Another Magazine Rack

I still haven't found another use for these but yet I still can not leave them at the thrift store. Good thing Ryker has a lot of books.

I have not found much of anything else to write about. I will be going to Goodwill tomorrow and hopefully I can find some good things there. I have not been in about 2 weeks so I'm due to find something exciting, right?

Thrift Store Finds

Yesterday, I went to the thrift store and found a box of vintage Melmac dishes I wanted for myself. I only had $15 and already had some items in my cart. One item was a vintage Levis jean jacket. I knew I could easily triple my money. When I checked Ebay completes, I was shocked to find some of these jackets were selling for over $50 Hopefully, mine will be one of them. (and soon)

I picked up this cute vintage plush leopard from Wendy's. Not a big money maker but hopefully someone will want it.

I got this coloring book rack for Ryker. I keep hoping if he has coloring books, he will stop coloring on everything else. When will I learn and just ban crayons from my house?

I did end up getting the dishes. I called my sister and told her about them. Since she wanted to buy a pair of Converse shoes from me, she went and got the dishes. I don't really need the cups and small plates, so I listed those on my Facebook group. I'm going to check Ebay later to sell if they are good sellers there and if so, I will list them but keep the rest.

Keepers

I found two items in the last two days that I am keeping for myself. The first is a pair of All Star Converse sneakers that happened to be my size. Good thing I got to them before my sister did. I normally try not to buy used shoes for myself but these looked like they were hardly worn. Plus they were only $5.99 which is a bargain for Goodwill.

My sister found this cool cigar purse. I really liked it until I saw the price tag. I had to leave it there. Last night, I sold one of my Lia Sophia bracelets on Facebook so I could buy the purse today.

I had a pretty good feeling the purse would still be there. It was. It isn't vintage but a cheap Chinese knock off but I love it anyways. The only problem is you can not put a wallet inside unless you remove the cases for the cell phone, lipstick and sunglasses. (They have velcro holding them in place)
