Computer Desk

I walked over to the thrift store I volunteer at yesterday. They had this ladder desk shelf I wanted but I didn't have a way to get it home. I asked the manager if I could borrow one of the furniture carts. She said yes and I got the shelf home. However, when I went to return the cart, the wheel fell off and rolled into 1st Ave. I got the wheel back and couldn't fix it because the nut for the bolt was gone. I took the cart back and Alice was understanding. I did find the nut on my way back home so it must have fallen off when I was bringing the desk to my house. I returned the nut and hopefully they can get the wheel back on.

I've been searching online for this desk because I'm wondering what the bar on the back is for and if it is missing a shelf. I haven't had any luck. Any ideas? Also, I can't really figure out where my computer should sit. Right now it's on a glass shelf and there is another shelf that pulls out for the keyboard but it doesn't look quite right. What do you think?

Human Floor Lamp

Last week Wednesday I went to Goodwill and found this lamp that looked like a person. It was pretty cool but someone had cut the cord and the one hand was broken. I left him there.

I was talking to my husband about this lamp and he said he could rewire it. I went back Friday and got him. The cashier told me how they were going to throw it out but she convinced them to cut the cord and sell it, that someone could rewire it. I'm not sure why they cut the cord in the first place but Bill was able to rewire it.

I posted him to Weird Thrift Store Finds on FB and apparently he was sold at Spencer's. I got a lot of name suggestions from the comments but still haven't named him. What name would you choose?

Discord: My Little Pony

Yesterday, I went to Goodwill and found this weird creature. I didn't know who he was so I posted him to Weird Secondhand Finds that just need to be shared on Facebook.

He is a villain from My Little Pony. His name is Discord. He causes chaos and can make it rain chocolate milk. Mine is missing his throne and his wings. My son also managed to break one of his horns.

Apparently, he has quite the following as my post got over 3.6K reactions and 1.4K comments.

Oil Rain Lamp

I found this rain lamp on Facebook Marketplace last night. I asked if it was still available and it was. I have never seen an angel one before. The seller said it belonged to her mother.

Ikea Keyhole Clock Cabinet

I found this really cool clock cabinet at Goodwill yesterday. After looking online, it's from 1995. The inside has two shelves for storage.

R.I.P. Jackson

Our dear kitty, Jackson passed away on Monday. Although I was allergic to the little furball, I miss him lots. He lived with our adult son for several years before coming to our house. Our son was not supposed to have him in his apartment. We had Jackson for almost a year.

Mika Werewolf Doll

Yesterday, I was in Goodwill and spotted this doll in the Halloween shoes. It looked like someone had changed their mind and discarded her on the shelf. I'm not really a doll person, but I do like creepy, weird items.

At first, I thought she was a vampire because of the fangs so I posted her as such in Weird Secondhand Finds on Facebook.

A few commentators said she looked like a werewolf and one found the artist who created her on etsy.

I messaged her, Soraya from AntiqueShopDolls to find out some background on this doll. She told me her name was Mika and she was the only werewolf girl she made. She is a fake Mui chan doll and was priced at 199 or 229.

I'm still not sure how she found her way from Spain to my small town in Wisconsin, but for now she is being displayed in my shadow box.

Winnie the Pooh Desk Set

My sister took me to Goodwill this morning and I found this desk set. Each piece was priced separate and each price was different. For now, I will be selling them separate as well.

Sold This. Bought That.

I sold this 33 gallon storage bin on Facebook marketplace and bought this storage cart. Since my son is doing virtual learning right now, I thought this cart would be great for his books and school supplies. He is in 5th grade. Each drawer holds his book, note book and folder for each class. At least he can stay organized.

What The Duck

I found this toilet paper holder at Goodwill. He is such a polite duck.

I also found a gargoyle.

Managed Payments Part 2

Tell me again what the advantages are of managed payments to sellers? Waiting two days for ebay to payout? They expect us to ship in 24 hours. Why can't they payout within that time? I sold something on Wednesday for 40 something. I got the email yesterday about them sending my payout. But get this, since I had 2 more sales within that time and used pending payments to pay for my shipping label, they took all the shipping money out of that 40 and left me with 13. What the actual fuck? And I'm still waiting for those payouts.

Managed Payments

August 25, I started managed payments on ebay. I held out as long as I could but was basically forced into it if I wanted to continue selling on ebay. I have gotten six sales so far through managed payments. However, I have only been paid out for three of those sales.

The only benefit I feel of using MP  is your final value fees get taken out of each sale so you will not get a huge bill each month. I didn't transfer money out of my PayPal into my checking account before s having my money in my checking does not benefit me. In fact, I had to open a new account to keep my eBay money separate. I can see the benefit to the buyer as having other ways to pay but again, I have PayPal so that does not benefit me.

I do not like waiting on my money. For example, I sold items on a Friday and Saturday. Ebay waited until Tuesday to pay out my money and it did not get to my bank until Wednesday. An item that sold on a Monday wasn't paid out until Wednesday and was in my bank on Thursday.  I sold something this past Thursday and have no idea when eBay will send out that payment since Monday is a holiday. I'm not sure why ebay can't process these payments the same day if they are before the close of the banks or the next day. At least with PayPal, you got your money the same time the buyer paid.

How do you like managed payments? What has been your experience so far?

Oh, Snap

My sales have been quite dismal this week on ebay. Facebook marketplace was a lot better. Yesterday, I sold a table, a lamp and a vhs cabinet.

The vhs cabinet was quite heavy and was upstairs. At 6 p.m. I got a message asking if they could come at 7 to buy it. I said yes and went about getting this cabinet down the stairs.

My first mistake was trying to do it myself. The second mistake was doing it in slippers. My third mistake was not using the hand truck (dolly) correctly. Instead of positioning the dolly in front of me, I went down the stairs first. Basically pulling it down instead of pushing it. After almost slipping and seriously injuring myself, I got it down the stairs.

At around 6:45, I took it outside on my back porch and not learning anything, went down the porch steps the wrong way. That is when it happened. I heard the snap of wood. I looked and had broken the bottom piece. I don't have a picture of what it originally looked like but basically there were three pieces of wood that lifted the bottom off the ground. Luckily, this bottom piece was not necessarily so I unscrewed the wood and threw it away.

The buyer didn't arrive until almost 7:30 I didn't mention the bottom piece and they didn't seem to notice. They were happy with the cabinet and gave me $20 Thankfully, because I would have never been able to bring it back upstairs.

Would You Have Bought it?

I went to Goodwill today and found this Harry Potter purse. I usually buy crossovers because I like having my hands free but this is Harry. How could I not buy it? It had some spots on it and was marked as is, but the spots came off when I cleaned it.

Would You Have Bought It?

Who doesn't need a 4 foot tall Michelangelo? I bought this today at Goodwill. I never grab a cart so I had to carry him around and of course, I ran into someone I know on a professional basis. Anyways, he was marked 14.99 The Goodwills here have a rewards card and you get a point for every dollar you spend. Once you get to 100, you get five dollars off so I cashed that in.

Would You Have Bought It?

I bought this from Goodwill last weekend. It is 3 feet tall. I believe it was originally designed to hold records. I don't have any records so for now, I will use it as a shelf. It was a steal at 3.99

Rock Gardens

A few people in our town have created rock gardens in their yards. You can leave rocks, take a rock or exchange rocks.

This morning, I saw a post where Patrick was added to a rock garden. I decided to walk over there with both my children and exchange our rock for Patrick. Unfortunately, I misjudged the distance from our house to this garden.

After walking a hour, we arrived. Not only was Patrick there, but Spongebob! We had 6 rocks to exchange but only took these three.

Patrick and Spongebob are chilling in my fish bowl along with some cloud rocks I found awhile back.

Now to find Squidward, Gary, Mr Krabs, and Sandy.

Pie Safe Cabinet

I've been wanting a pie safe for quite some time. My friend buys the contents of estates and then sells the items. My husband had been helping him with this one estate. He was telling me about this cabinet that had wire on the door. I thought he was describing a pie safe and I told him to grab it for me.

It isn't a conventional pie safe but whomever made it, did a good job. It was filled with sewing notions, a sewing box and fabric. It has an 80's vibe to it with the heart cutout/country theme.  It isn't exactly what I had pictured but for now, I will use it until it sells.

Thrift Store Finds

Some things I found this week.

The hand is for Ryker but the other items are for sale in my ebay store.

I bought this for my ferrets but they keep chewing on the mouse so I think I might see if the cat will play with it.

I also picked up this cat figurine. Look how small it is.

Week In Review

I sold four items on ebay and four on FB marketplace. My friend bought the contents of an estate and I sold the marketplace items for him. We did a 50/50 split.

Set of lamps

A kitchen island

vintage sewing basket and four jewelry boxes.

On ebay, I sold the rest of my cage ramps, a backpack and a coffee cup.

Atlas Protein Bars

I bought another sample pack of protein bars off Facebook ads. These are from a company called Atlas. The sample pack of 6 was 10$ with free shipping.

I tried the peanut butter raspberry and Bill tried the almond chocolate chip.

The flavor was spot on but it was really dry. It was like eating a mouthful of sand. Bill threw his away. Which I knew he wouldn't like it but he insisted on trying it. With a glass of milk, I was able to get it down. I don't think I will buy these in the future but I still have four more to try.
