If You Want Something Done...

Right You Should Do It Yourself. I sold this vintage lamp on Monday to a buyer in CA.

After bubble wrapping it, it did not fit in the box I had. I sent my DH to get me one. I gave him an approximate size and he came home with this.

Yeah A little too high.

Yeah A little too wide. Even Ryker is crying. So now Ryker has a new house and I still need a box.

What $5 Bought

Daisy Cinderella Divided Casserole Dish

I found this at the Goodwill in Rib Mountain. I have never found a casserole dish with the lid so when I spotted this, I knew it was coming home with me. The colors are so bright and vibrant, it looks like it was never used. I'm suprised my sister didn't spot it first as I was at the counter making a return. She said she glanced down the aisle but didn't see any pyrex. It was destined to be mine. Now I just need to learn how to cook.

Don't Step On That!!

We went to my favorite thrift store yesterday and I walked into the back room where the toys are and happened to look down. There on the floor was an owl throw rug. I couldn't believe my luck. Unfortunately it was filthy. People had been wiping their feet on it. Why, why??? I decided to get it anyway and see if I could get it cleaned. I also got a huge box of toys but I will save that for another time.

I threw it in my washer and hoped for the best. The first wash did not get it clean. I decided to throw it back in the washer, this time using the permanent press cycle. (thinking that was the gentle cycle) Well that time the rug started to unravel. I tried to fix it but have no idea what I was doing. It did get a little cleaner but not as clean as I want. I wonder if I steam cleaned it, if that would work?

It is so cute I don't want anyone walking on it. It's pretty heavy. I have no idea how to display it so I put it into my Ebay store. Hopefully someone will love it so much that the flaws do not matter.

What $5 Bought

Two Fridays ago I went to my favorite thrift store with my sister. There really wasn't a whole lot of stuff I hadn't seen before. They do have some nice pieces of furniture, but purchasing that would require me to ask hubby to pick it up and who wants to go through that drama. And I can hear him say "Where are you going to put that? We don't need it." He honestly has no vision. Anyways here is what $5 bought plus a gordita from Taco Bell which was promptly eaten before any pictures were taken.

All items except for the A&W mug are for sale in my Ebay store. The cowboy lantern is a tea light holder but you could add a light to make it a night light for your little cowboy.

Thrifty Finds

We went to Goodwill last Monday and I found another Babblin Boo doll. Remember Boo from Monster's Inc? These dolls used to sell for high prices. I'm not sure they get those prices anymore but I should be able to make a few dollars on her. She is missing her teddy, pants and socks.

I also found a FurReal Friend baby parrot. I thought it was the one that is worth money but that is the bigger blue parrot. I also bought some Care Bear figurines.

I wasn't sure if the Little Einsteins Dominoes were good sellers. I decided to get them anyway. Unfortunately when I checked the prices on Ebay, they were going for less than $10 and those were the ones with a box and instructions. The cars socks and Max and Ruby book are for Ryker. All the other items are for sale in my Ebay store.

Goodwill Finds

I'm a little slow in posting this. I found these about a week or so ago. I already sold the Pat Pat Rocket and the Thomas Train set. You can read about it here. The Little People airplane is for Ryker to keep. The shoes in front are brand new and are also for Ryker. He needed a bigger size and I was happy to find these for $5. One shoe doesn't light up but Ryker doesn't seem to mind.

I needed a fan for this summer. Last summer the air conditioner in our living room quit working. I think it had something to do with a 2 year old turning it on and off. It won't come back on. Anyways I really want one of those vintage metal fans. You know the ones where you can lose a finger. I didn't find one of those so I settled for this one. It has a cool look to it. The price was right at $4.99

Owl Buy That

I found this owl light on my way out of the thrift store. It caught my eye as I was leaving. I put my other things in the car and went back in to see what it was. I thought maybe it was some sort of trash can or container. On closer inspection, I realized it was one of those ceramic lights like the vintage Christmas tree. I asked the cashier "What is this?" He didn't know. Then I said "More importantly, how much is it?" He said "$2 dollars?" I picked it up (it was quite heavy) and put it on the counter.  Another worker asked me what it was. I said I thought it was a light but it was missing the bulbs and light source.

I found some replacement bulbs on Ebay for $6 and hot glued them in the openings. (FYI Hot glue is extremely hot. My poor pointer finger)

It is one solid piece. The top does not come off. The bottom is open for the light source. It is the same design on both sides. It is about 18 inches tall. I want to find a small light to go inside. I haven't seen anything like it on Ebay so I priced it ridiculously high with a Best Offer. I would certainly do a happy dance if it sold for my asking price.

What $5 Bought

A few days ago I walked over to the consignment shop to see what Christmas stuff was on clearance. I came across a box of brand new Scottie dishes. They were marked $10. I asked the cashier if they were included in the Christmas clearance and she said no but since they were white tags, they were half off. I'm hoping to double my money on just the shakers. They are so cute!

The mug has a Scottie on the outside and one on the inside.

Friday Final Dec 31 - Jan 6

Sales picked up some this week. I sold 9 items. 2 were auctions and the rest were in my store. I had one return. The buyer said the singing Elvis Bear did not sing. I got it back yesterday, put new batteries in it and it worked fine. I relisted it in my store and refunded the buyer. She has not cancelled the sale yet so I could get my fees refunded nor did she leave feedback.

AUCTIONS:

This item had only one bid. I sold it once before but the buyer never paid. It is going to Canada.

$9.99

This next item had two bidders. I had it in my store at one time and it sold for more than my BIN price. I really did not expect it to sell as it is a Christmas item.

$10.50

BIN:

I had purchased some vintage ceramic tree bulbs and decided to sell the extra ones I didn't need. I separated them into 3 lots of 18 bulbs. Each lot sold to a different buyer yesterday and this morning.

$3.99 x 3 = $11.97

These came from the garage sale my husband went to this summer. He bought two tables of toys for $5

$16.95

I had these owls listed cheaply just because I wanted to get rid of them.

$12.00

BEST OFFER

DH picked this doll up at an auction. I thought it was worth some money but complete listings were not good. I accepted an offer from a buyer in Germany. I'm not sure if I would have gotten more money if I had waited longer.

$20

ON SALE:

I would have never bought the next item but I saw Jessica had sold a similar one on We Sell On Ebay I believe this sold within one week of listing.

$22.39 - $6.65 = $15.74

Some More Christmasy Finds

The Tuesday before Christmas, my sister took me over to the thrift store where I found this vintage ceramic tree. It was missing some bulbs and the star at the top. The light also did not sit right because the clip was broken. It was marked $8 I offered $5 and they accepted. When I got home I looked up the prices of these on Ebay and alot were selling for over $100. I wll keep mine for now.

I found the star and bulbs on Ebay for $11 Since I did not need all the bulbs, I put the rest for sale in my store. Hopefully, I get back back some of my money. Here is how it looks on top of my t.v stand.

While I was there I also found some other things.

I gave the Gnome to my hubby for Christmas (inside joke) I did remove the flowers so he could use it for change or something. I love the Santa and the owl is for sale on Ebay.
