Sold This... Bought That

I sold this coffee table last night on craigslist. I don't think the buyer was too familiar with my city because I live on a one way street and when he left, he went the wrong way.

I went to the thrift store that was closing and didn't find anything I wanted. They had a couple of first edition Little Golden books but they were in too bad of shape. We then stopped at St Vinnies and I got this (plus I have some money left over)

The books, garbage can and shoes, I'm keeping. I have big feet and hardly ever find any shoes in my size. I know, I should buy new (my kids get new shoes)

Books for Ryker

and coffee mugs. I swore off buying them but I have a hard time leaving them behind. Except for the owl mug, these were brand new.

I love the Mona Lisa with a beard and mustache

I will be posting the mugs in my ebay store later today. Check out my other mugs here

Being Thrifty A Bad Thing?

Yes, being thrifty can be a bad thing. I can't believe I did it again! If you see something you like in the thrift store, even if you think you do not have a use for it, buy it anyways. If you don't, it will not be there the next time you go.

About a week ago, I found this really cool coffee table at a thrift store downtown. They are closing at the end of this month so at the time, everything was 30% off. I was hoping to get the table at 50% off. I went back today and the table was gone. and who bought it? The same lady who bought the aluminum Christmas tree I wrote about back in December. I hate my life

Six Days

Six days without a sale on Ebay. What is one to do? Well, go shopping of course. Monday, I went to Goodwill. It is getting harder to find anything for resale as their prices have gone up quite a bit. For example, I used to be able to buy baby blankets for half the cost they are now. Since the thrift store by my house barely gets any blankets, I have no choice but to buy them at GW.

I found this Mickey Mouse baby blanket. Normally I will not buy Mickey as the market seems to be saturated but this was a Biederlack and they seem to sell for good money. I still have my large Mickey blanket from when I was a kid and those are selling for around $90. I would sell mine but it is in bad shape.

I also found this Marshall Fields blanket. There is only one other listed on Ebay that I could find and that seller is asking a ridiculous amount in my opinion.

I also picked up this new security blanket from Hallmark.

I thought these bookends were cool. Too bad they are not vintage or made in Italy as those were selling high.

The last time I sold one of these musical stages, the price had really dropped. I'm glad to see the price went back up.

Yesterday, I walked over to the thrift store with Robbie. He is in a Special Needs classroom and they did not have school yesterday. He found himself a Spiderman toy computer. He loves those things. As I was checking out, I spotted a Coach purse locked in the glass counter. Normally, I can spot a fake a mile away. This one however looked real. I asked to see it. My hunch was correct and it was real. I am trying to sell it on FB as Ebay is over saturated with them and all it takes is one competitive person to report it as fake. I'd rather not take that chance. If it doesn't sell, I will keep it for myself. You can join my FB group here. It is open to anyone and I will gladly ship if you pay for shipping.

I also found a blanket and some toys at the thrift store. You can view these items in my Ebay store here

Steal Of A Deal

I only purchased two things today. Both were too good of a deal to pass up. The first item I found at the thrift store downtown and the second was at St Vinnie's.

I had my eye on this bench for about a month. I messaged the owner last night on Facebook to see if she still had it at her shop and how much it was. They are going out of business. She told me it was marked at $50 but they were having 40% off so I could get it for $30. I went there this afternoon to pick it up. It was actually marked at $75 but the owner honored the $50 price she quoted me on FB. With 40% off, I only paid $30 plus tax. I was going to put Ryker's extra books in the drawer, but he had other plans and put his toys in there.

This 6' x 9" area rug was rolled up and leaning against a shelf. I asked a worker if there were any stains on it and she told me if it had stains, they would not have put it out. But she went back and checked with the worker who rolled it up and put it out on the floor. He reassured me there were no stains. I couldn't believe they only wanted $20 since everything else seems so marked up. I unrolled it in my living room and it is perfect. It really doesn't even look used.

It's a light blue. I'm hoping with 2 boys, a dog and a hubby, it stays that way.

Caboodles and Containers

I can't seem to stop buying these useful pieces of plastic. I think I have only sold two or three in all my years of reselling. They sit forever and yet I can not pass them up. On Monday, my sister and I went to the thrift store downtown and there on the shelf was a purple and green one. It was packed with beads and some sewing notions. Since I'm not a crafter, I sold the beads on Facebook for $5

I also found some vintage plastic kitchen containers. They are actually a mint green but for some reason, the photos turned out blue.

You can find both of these items in my Ebay store here

Knickerbocker Snoopy Play Set

After lunch on Friday, I convinced the hubby to stop at a local thrift store. There was a set of Pyrex bowls I had been wanting. Hubby hates going shopping but I told him I would only be a few minutes. He stopped but unfortunately, the bowls were gone.

I did find two things in the limited time I had: a metal library file drawer and a vintage Knickerbocker Snoopy play set.

Apparently, there were 2 other sets in addition to The Astronaut: The Chef and The Sport.

The set is missing the flag and Woodstock. The box is still in good shape.

Vintage Playskool Familiar Places McDonalds

Last week, I went to the thrift store and the cashier asked me if I was interested in a McDonald's play set. I normally collect Fisher Price but I told her I was. It didn't come with anything but I had some Playskool figures I was selling on Ebay. I had found them a few weeks before at this same thrift store.

I wish I had the trays to test out the tray return on the side of the building.

I love how all the people can fit in the floor of the restaurant. Not sure if they are meant to though.

In addition to the missing trays, it is missing the sidewalk, the sign and the plastic play mat. I'm sure I can find these on Ebay but you never know if they are hiding at that thrift store.

Sweet Little Surprise

This sweet Santa blow mold arrived today in the mail. It was a gift from a friend of mine on Facebook. I'm pretty sure my parents had one when we were little.

Thank you Sandy for making my day! I will think of you every Christmas I display it.

Decluttering 2015

Since January is typically slow for me on Ebay, I will be spending the next 40 days doing the 40 Days 40 Bags Challenge. You can follow my progress over on socially awkward but that's a-ok Hopefully, I can clean up, make some money and get my space back.
