Ebay Facebook Groups

Love them? Hate them? Too much information? Not enough information? Too many rules? Not enough rules? Too much drama? Too many cliques? What do you say?

I belong to 3 Ebay FB groups. I'm sure there are hundreds out there but if I joined anymore, I'd never get anything done. One of the groups is larger and created by you tube video picker. It has over 3000 members. The second one is about half that created by a fellow ebayer and the last is a small one created by a friend and ebay reseller. Everyone in the smaller groups seem to get along and if there is a difference in opinion, it is discussed in a friendly, respectful manner. Too bad the bigger group isn't the same.

I know the bigger the group, the more opinions but people should be able to express their opinion without fear of being attacked or called names. (What is this? grade school) If you post something, you should not expect everyone to be positive about it or agree with your every single word. How boring this world would be if everyone had the same opinions!

Anyways, two days ago a member decided to post a photo of the packages he was shipping out for the day. He titled it something like: "Here is a little inspiration for the day. My wife shipping out 121 packages." A couple of the comments were like omg! wow! Im happy to mail out 10 packages. Good for you! How impressive!. My comment wasn't so cheery. I asked him what his average SALE price was. Not his ROI, not his profit. His SALE price which I could easily find by searching Ebay solds. I also said if it was only .99c I'm not that impressed.  Apparently, this was the fuel to start the fire.

The original poster didn't seem too bothered by this and said something like anywhere from $3 to $30 (Not quite the average I was asking but fine enough) Then the trolls came out from under the rocks and told me if I wasn't impressed, I shouldn't comment.  Hmmm, why is it that Ebay is the ONLY job you can brag about how much you are making and it isn't consider bragging but attempting to inspire?

Anyways, a couple of other people started asking if he was actually making any kind of profit. He said he was buying from a wholesaler and selling party supplies. The post got out of hand and it was removed.

The next day, the op posted another photo. This time it was like 88 packages. I did not comment on that post and it too was deleted shortly after. My friend decided to ask why the post was taken down twice. Again, the trolls came out. My friends and I were joking and playing around and all the trolls were getting defensive and personal. One kept telling me it wasn't any of my business what the op's profit was. I kept telling him I wasn't asking about profit. I only asked about average selling price which I could easily find for myself by looking at the op's solds. Apparently, he has no reading comprehension and kept putting words in my mouth. I told him if the original post wasn't removed, he could see for himself, I was not changing what I had said.

At one point, another person said "why are you wasting our time with this post." I replied if she thought we were wasting her time, why doesn't she stop reading and commenting? She got defensive and stated she could read and comment on anything she wanted. smh

Eventually that post was removed but not before myself and 2 friends were called idiots and The Three Blind Mice. Now I thought that was some funny shit so I told the other girls we should change our FB profile names to "a blind mouse". I put it into my middle name but sadly, the other girls did not. I'm stuck with that name for 60 days but it's ok because I'm still laughing my ass off at those trolls.

    1. You are probably more knowledgeable than 95% of the sheeple in those groups.

  2. Yeah...I would be the "trouble-maker". It's amazing what other people get defensive about. My Facebook venue was checking out the news stories from our local station. Doesn't it feel like you are the only sane one out there at times? The lack of intelligence overwhelms me, and I wonder why ignorant people even open their mouths. Nuf said, on that one. I don't visit Facebook as often as I used to, because I found other places that make me happier. But, every once in awhile, I am drawn back there and feel the need to inject a little wisdom into the thread.

    1. omg The grammar and misspellings drive me crazy. There is one poster who does not know the difference between they're, there and their. I want to correct him but am fearful of being a grammar nazi.

  3. I created the Group Thrifting Lounge with about double the membership that your talking about with the other group and I've noticed the bigger the group the more harder it is to monitor whats being said. In the last week we created new rules to make better content to help sellers. Also, we had to cut ties with 8 members because it seemed like they were just about having a positive influence but more on the negative side. By the way we would love to have you as a member because we take criticism very well so we can learn about where we're not succeeding at. I believe we are in a ever changing world and if your not changing for the better you will get stuck in the pack.
