My Bird Cage

No one in my family has the vision or creativity to fully appreciate the awesomeness of decorating with bird cages. I have seen other blogs with beautiful cages decorated with ribbons, or candles, or Christmas bulbs, or flowers and I had become obsessed with finding my own cage to decorate. Today was the day I found it. I think it is wonderful but of course my DH said "What do you need a cage for? Are you getting a bird?" Even the guy at the thrift store, where I picked it up, asked me if I had birds. (Hmmmmm, if I had birds, wouldn't they already be in a cage?) I told him no and he asked me what I was going to do with it. (OMG mind your own business and sell me the cage already) I told him I didn't know yet but I would find a use for it. I paid $2.

If you look closely, you can see Ryker looking out the window

Right now it is sitting in my garage waiting for my hubby to paint it. I want the cast iron holder to be black and the cage itself white. (I accidentally dropped the cage getting it into my sister's car and the bottom pan cracked. How sad.) I'm thinking once it is painted, I'm going to add candles like this one I found online. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

  1. $2? Definite bargain I'm sure it's going to look great when it's finished.

  2. $2???!! Wow, that is awesome! Great deal. It can be annoying when someone asks you something about an item your buying, especially when they think it's for the obvious. IE: birdcage= for the birds.

  3. Do you have a Pinterest account? I bet there's some great suggestions there.
