Tuesday Morning

My second child will be 16 years old tomorrow. Where has the time gone?

William was born at the beginning of the hurricane season. At the time we were living in Charlotte, N.C. Hurricane Allison made landfall in Florida on June 5. By then it had weakend to a tropical storm. It made its way up the coast bringing heavy rains and strong winds. That Tuesday morning it was raining heavily and water began seeping into the condo we were staying at. My contractions began around 8 a.m and around 9 we headed to the hospital. My DH asked me if we had time to stop and get drinks. "Sure" I said sarcastically. "Take your time." Apparently the sarcasm was lost on him as he stopped at the nearest gas station, got out and went inside. After a few minutes that felt like a life time, we were on our way to Carolinas Medical Center. Around 1:30, I gave birth to a healthy baby boy.

Where does the time go? A lot can happen in 16 years. In 16 years, we have moved 10 times. In 16 years, we had 2 more children. In 16 years, I have had 5 jobs. In 16 years, we have had 8 family pets. In 16 years, we have had 3 nieces and 2 nephews born. In 16 years, we have lost a dad, a grandpa, 2 grandmothers and some aunts, uncles and friends. A lot can happen in 16 years. Would I have changed anything? Nope. Not a thing.
