Big Red Chair

I bought myself an early birthday present yesterday. I almost didn't get it and I walked away twice. On the third look, someone was sitting in it! I asked the girl if she was purchasing it and she said no. She got up and I took the tag and went to the counter to buy it.

Yes, it is red. No, it does not match anything in my house. Yes, my kids will ruin it. No, they are not allowed to sit in it. Yes, they will still ruin it but at least I got something I like.

Fabulous Finds

I found some good stuff  in the pass week.

I've always wanted one of these vintage record holders. This one needs to be stained but the price was right. I'm thinking of putting Ryker's story books in the slots.

This was an impulse buy. I originally went into the consignment shop to see if I had any money in my account. It was a steal and all I had to do was put three missing bolts on the bottom to fix it. It barely fit into my sister's clown car but I was determined to make it happen even if it meant being squished in the back with my two children.

I love this bathroom shelf but unfortunately the only wall it would fit on was the wall next to the toilet. My husband said "Great now I'm going to hit my head every time I use the bathroom" Well, honey, I hung it up high enough and the only way that is possible is if you are standing on the toilet and leaning to the left.

Some monkeys for my desk. I priced these super high on Ebay so I could keep them for awhile but not be a hoarder because they are listed.

And some cute little cupcake/muffin dolls. Also listed on Ebay and the first doll has already sold and will be on her way to France in the morning.

Curbside Finds

I'm normally not one to pick up stuff from the curb, especially if I am walking, but this pass weekend I made an exception.

Seriously, who throws away a He Man castle? I already sold this on my Facebook garage sale group. I didn't want to deal with shipping and Ebay. I know I left money on the table with this but I am ok with a quick nickel as compared to a fast dime. Besides, there are so many listed right now that are complete.

I also sold the pink container on FB. I really didn't need any more kitchen chairs but I can't seem to resist these vintage ones. And for free... I'm all over that.

Thrifty Tuesday Find

Yesterday, my hubby took me over to Goodwill. This hardly ever happens without me asking to go. Plus we had two of our children with us. I'm glad we went because I finally found the kitchen chairs I have been searching for.

Now of course convincing my hubby to purchase another set of chairs is a different story. They were only $3.99 a piece. I told him I could easily sell the other kitchen chairs plus the extra table we had on Facebook. He agreed to get them but he wans't helping me take them to the check out. (yeah he can be a brat) I managed to get two into the cart and dragged the other two behind me. I was so happy with myself, I became thrift store blind and did not see how filthy they were. I actually thought they were a beige color until after I cleaned them and they turned white!

All nice and clean at my table:

Skirts, Skirts and More Skirts

I sold this

and this to my sister for $10

and got all these skirts at the consignment shop for $9.50.

About every two months or so, they have a certain colored tag for clearance. Any clothing with this tag, is a buck. I figured if I could sell one skirt for $9.99, I will make back my money. They are really cute but none of them are my size. To view my auctions, click here.

Ray Of Sunshine

I found this yellow chair at my favorite thrift store on Thursday. It was sitting outside in front of the building and I did not notice it when I went inside. I looked around and didn't find anything except a pair of Winnie the Pooh slippers for Ryker. While I was paying for my purchase, Sarah was outside looking at the chairs. I noticed her looking at this fiberglass yellow one. I asked her if she was going to get it and she said no. I then asked her if she noticed any cracks. Nope. I told her I was going to go back in and offer them $2 for it. They accepted my offer.

I believe it came from the local laundry mat as I remember sitting in these chairs while doing my laundry. I was hoping it was marked. The Herman Miller chairs, that are similar to this one, sell for big bucks on Ebay. Check out these completed listings here.

Bench Makeover and Free Finds

Remember this bench? The one I was going to redo? I had big plans to paint it white and then make a cushion for it. Well, I discovered I have neither the attention span or patience to do such a thing. Unfortunately I found this out after attempting to sand and paint it. FAIL!! It looked so terrible, I almost cried. (I was too disappointed and embarrassed to take a picture) Luckily my DH took the task on and this is how it turned out. There still isn't a cushion but maybe someday I can attempt that.

Ryker doesn't seem to mind the missing cushion.

At the thrift store I managed to score two free things. I have the delusion of making these two items over. I want to paint the vanity chair black and the cushion needs to be reattached. The chalk board needs a new coat of the chalkboard paint.

The picture in front of the chalkboard is of the City of Milwaukee in 1967. I plan on attaching it to the lamp table magazine rack I blogged about here I paid $1.07 for the picture.

Wish I Would Have Found This First

I am so sad. I bought a vintage table the other day from the thrift store. Although I love the table, I came across another one on Craig's List that I really, really want. Unfortunately, DH is not about to let me purchase another table. Waaaaaahhhh. I'm just going to pretend that it is no longer available for sale. Besides, it doesn't beat the great price I got on my table ($15)

The seller wants $100 for the whole set. I love the chairs and if I ever see any yellow ones like those, I am so buying them. And I don't care what DH has to say!!!!

My Free Kitchen Chairs

DH found some vintage chairs for my kitchen table that I blogged about here. They are not exactly what I was looking for, but for free who can complain? They are a lightish green with white legs. He also got a round matching table but I love the one I found so we are keeping mine. His is in the garage for now. I don't know what he plans on doing with it. Right now our garage looks like something out of Hoarders and I  had to step on some chairs and then stand on a table to grab Ryker's extra car seat. I really wanted some bright yellow chairs with the silver legs to match my kitchen stool. If I do come across the ones I like, I will get them. (and add to my garage hoard)Here are some pictures of the chairs.
