What $5 Bought

a primary yellow 503 dish and a Wheaton poison bottle

The Pyrex dish I found at Goodwill

The Wheaton bottle I got at the estate sale where my husband purchased the repurposed sewing machine table. It has a skull and crossbones on the front and R.I.P on the back.

What $5 Bought

Daisy Cinderella Divided Casserole Dish

I found this at the Goodwill in Rib Mountain. I have never found a casserole dish with the lid so when I spotted this, I knew it was coming home with me. The colors are so bright and vibrant, it looks like it was never used. I'm suprised my sister didn't spot it first as I was at the counter making a return. She said she glanced down the aisle but didn't see any pyrex. It was destined to be mine. Now I just need to learn how to cook.

Top 10 Finds of 2011

I have found alot of good stuff this year. Most of it, I have sold on Ebay for a nice profit. Other stuff I have kept for myself. Here are my top 10 finds this year.

10.  VINTAGE SUITCASES

These are usually good sellers on Ebay. I found them for a dollar a piece and listed them. They sold for $75 and then I got a message from the buyer stating her boss had changed their colors for their party and she no longer needed them. I still have them listed and right now they are in my living room holding some books. They are flat and stack nicely.

9. PYREX CINDERELLA BOWLS

This is not my favorite pattern, spring blossom, but for $11 I had to purchase them. They are also for sale.

8. VINTAGE KITCHEN STOOL

My dad had one of these when we were growing up. I found it for $3. It is the perfect chair for Ryker at the table.

7.  VINTAGE FLOOR LAMP

I found this at the consignment shop. It was on sale for $12. Ryker broke the shade and replacing that set me back another $18

6. OUR CHRISTMAS TREE

I found this at the consignment shop as well. It cost $50. I love the homemade fireplace base.

5. ADVENT CALENDAR

This came from Goodwill. It was more than I usually spend at $15 but I really wanted a countdown to Christmas and new ones cost $30

4. VINTAGE OWL LAMPS

I originally bought these to keep for myself. I paid $3 each. The dark brown one I sold on Ebay for $100. Unfortunately, it broke on its way to California. The other one is in my store for local pick up only.

3.  ACTIVITY CUBE TOY BOX

I found this at Goodwill for only $5. I had store credit so I paid $2.10 I like that it is also a toy box.

2. VINTAGE KITCHEN TABLE

This came from my favorite thrift store before it moved. I paid $15 for it. Now to just find the matching chairs.

1. FIRE TRUCK BED

My most expensive purchase this year at $125. These are around $300 new and this is only missing the light. I got this at the consignment shop.

More Pyrex Love And Counting Down To Christmas

Apparently I am collecting Spring Blossom. I found a whole set of the Cinderella bowls at Goodwill today.  The small bowl was $1.49 next was $1.99 then $2.99 and the last was $3.99 With tax a little over $11 for the set. Not a bad price at all but Spring Blossom is not my favorite pattern. (so wish I could find Snowflake or Pink Daisy) I may end up selling these separately on Ebay.

I almost gave myself a heart attack when setting up the above picture. I turned away to get my camera and (gasp) the bowls fell off of each other and the two smaller ones came crashing to the ground. I thought for sure they had broke, but not a single chip. How unbelievably lucky is that?

I have been looking all season for some sort of countdown calendar and came across this little house. I instantly fell in love. Then I saw the price tag. OMG $14.99 and its missing a door handle and two sticks off the roof. I debated for a few minutes, thought about putting the Pyrex back and then my sister said "can you afford both? You know you are going to regret it if you don't get it" (not exact words but close enough). I had some good sales this weekend, including selling one Pyrex bowl for $17.99, so I decided I could afford it. Similar ones retail for $29.99 so I guess I got a bargain. Brian was a Christmas ornament but I dropped him and his hangar broke. (I have had him for several years)

I also found these cute little stockings to hang on my fake mantle.

Goodwill Scores

I've been searching my Goodwills for Pyrex without much luck. Last week, I had found the yellow and green primary colors mixing bowls and left them there. Of course when I went back to get them, they were gone. So now my new rule is grab them when you find them. I have noticed the GW in Rib Mountain prices theirs a few bucks cheaper than the one in Westen. Today I found the 403 green primary mixing bowl for $2.99

Found a vintage balance scale last Friday along with a pair of Buzz Lightyear shoes, a Little People's construction set and some magnetic people from The First Years. I'm only selling the scale. The rest is for Ryker.

Mickey Mouse Music box plays Jingle Bell Rock. When the cashier rang it up, it said $12.99 I was like "What? How much is that?" She said $2.99 and I said it rang up for $12.99 She fixed it and said I'm glad you caught that. Yeah, I was too.

And the week would not be complete without some owls.

Pyrex Love

Found two pieces of Pyrex at the consignment shop yesterday: a red 410 bowl and a blue 502 fridgie. The fridgie did not have a lid but for $2, I couldn't pass it up. The little red bowl is pretty beat up but it was only a buck. I don't think they would be this cheap at Goodwill. (I paid $5.99 for a fridgie with lid awhile back)

Weekly Finds

It's been awhile since I posted things I found at the thrift store so I thought I would do a post today. Last Tuesday, I went over to the new building my favorite t.s. moved too. It was very different from their old shop. It was clean, organized and had nice stuff. Unfortunately, everything was over priced. They are trying to get away from the thrift store aspect and be more like a preowned boutique. Their prices are higher than the consignment stores and if they do not change thier business model, I feel they won't have a business for long. If you want Ebay prices, you need to sell on Ebay.

Here are some of my finds for that day. (Nothing from the new store)

I thought these creamers were Pyrex because of the design. They are Gemco.

Found another owl. The tree trunk is open and you can put your change or keys in it. It could also be used as a candle holder.

I paid $1.60 for these two tealight holders. They attach together and are made of stone. When my sister saw them in my cart, she asked if there were more. They originally came in a set of 4 but I could only find 2. If they don't sell, I will probably let her have them.

I also found 2 vintage tea towels.

Thrift Store Finds

My favorite thrift store closed last weekend, (it's actually moving across town but the new location isn't opened yet) so I haven't been able to find great deals but I did pick up a few things at Goodwill.

My first set of Pyrex mixing bowls. It is missing the large 4qt? bowl and is in a color I don't particularly like but the price was right. $1.49 for the small bowl and $1.99 each for the bigger bowls. They also had the snowflake blue on white small bowl but I left it there. (I should have bought it) I also found another owl for $.75 It was a half off color tag.

Some cute Christmas ornaments I found the Thursday before the thrift store closed. Paid $1

More Christmas decorations. I actually sold these cutouts at auction for $10.50 but of course the bidder did not pay.

Some trinket boxes and an owl candle holder. I sold the candle holder for $9.99 The trinket boxes are still available in my store

Some Rudolph coffee mugs that are up for auction in my store

My sister found this owl spoon rest. It has some chips but for $.79 cents, I could not pass it up.

Thursday Thrift Store Finds

Although it has been extremely hot all week, I managed to walk over to the consignment shop yesterday and picked up this keepsake box. It looks just like a treasure chest. It has a postcard of New York on it which I thought was pretty cool.

Today there was a slight breeze which made walking over to the thrift store more bearable. I found all of this for only $2.11 Apparently you do not need to know any math to be a cashier as this should have been higher.

I am keeping the Pyrex measuring cup, the Tupperware shape sorter, the brand new pillow cases and the vintage soap dish. I love the way the soap dish looks. Plain but elegant. I'm sure in this household, it will be broken soon though.

The box of vintage doll furniture, cost me only $1. Some of it is missing pieces but I hope it will still sell on Ebay. I have no idea how to price this but I added Best Offer so hopefully someone will purchase it. I was hoping it was the furniture to the Fisher Price house I have but most of it is Tomy.

I took a chance on the 70s Game. It is a trivia game and was still sealed in the factory shrink wrap. When I looked on Ebay, there were 2 others like this and they were priced at $49.99 I priced mine with Best offer and free shipping. Completes show one sold for $25 This was marked .50 so any offer will be profit for me.

The other chance I took were these cross stitch books. They don't sell for much but perhaps I can make a few dollars. These must have been free.

What did you find this week?

Happy thrifting!
