Scarce Finds Slow Sales

Uggh I'm back to slow sales again. I can't seem to get off this roller coaster ride of ups and downs. Currently, I'm down. Tomorrow, the local church is having their annual garage sale and I'm hoping to sell some things today so I can go check it out. Right now, my paypal balance is below $10 and I still haven't paid my Ebay fees. I put my entire store on sale, hoping to sell something. Anything.

The last few weeks have been dismal at the thrift store. I'm trying not to buy low profit items but lately that is all I can find. I bought some bargain bags for Ryker and in 4 of them, were one Littlest Pet Shop figure. I thought I'd check Ebay to see if they were worth anything. Two of the 4 should bring good money. The other two, not so much.

I found one of those Leap Frog magnet sets. This one is the airplane.

This carry case had 14 vintage Highlight magazines in it. I wish they had all been from the same year though.

Another thrift store had 2 Care Bear sleeping bags. I only bought the older one because the newer one was priced twice as much.

Barney puzzle and another Snuggle bear. I wish the Snuggle bears would sell as quickly as they used to. Also I think the price has dropped.

and a vintage Strawberry Shortcake card game

All of these items are available in my Ebay store. If you see something you like, shoot me an offer.

Garage Sale Finds

Yesterday, I went to 14 garage sales. I walked to 7 and the other 7, I went with my sister. Here is what I got.

I found those Christmas candles at the first garage sale but since I was walking, I did not get them. I went back later with my sister in her car. They are quite tall, almost as tall as Ryker.

I almost didn't get the vintage Converse either. The seller wanted $5 each. I couldn't remember if it was the All Stars or One Stars that are good money. I walked away and went to some other sales but returned and asked if he would take $7 for both pair. I told him my son loves Converse and would love to have these. (I'm totally selling them on Ebay)

Some pennants I liked. Not sure if they will sell on Ebay or not.

I picked this key chain up at an over priced sale. When I saw it was $2, I sadly put it back. As I was walking down the driveway, I heard it's little voice calling me "you know you want me. Take me home. I'll keep track of your keys." I had found $5 earlier in the store parking lot so I paid the 2 bucks and put him in my purse for later.

I don't know how much these security blankets will fetch on Ebay but they were cheap so I picked them up.

Today, I went to the first ever community garage sale held at the park across from my house. I will show you what I found tomorrow, so be sure to come back and visit.

Goodwill Finds

Just a few things I found at Goodwill this week

a huge bag of Polly Pockets I've had good luck with Polly Pocket in the past and the price was right. At the check out another lady saw the bag and said "You are going to make someone very happy" and I thought yeah I will be happy if I can flip this for a good profit. She also asked me how much I paid if I didn't mind telling her. I told her the price and she said "Oh I wish I had been a little faster." Earlier, she was entering the toy aisle as I was exiting. I stopped her to tell her the bag of Fisher Price toys she was holding, was missing pieces. It was the ABC zoo and only had 18 animals. I know because I was going to buy it but put it back.

Some yoga cards I thought were interesting

A tiki vase or mug I know nothing about tiki but one of the blogs I follow Love of the Hunt collects tiki so I thought there should be a market for it. It would be great for holding pens or pencils.

I have never seen a Care Bear full body puppet before.

This puppy by Carter's still had his tags attached. I looked on the Carter's website and it appears you can not buy him anymore. Used ones on Ebay were listed around $25 so I am hoping to get a little more than that.

A singing Tyrone from the Backyardigans He is dressed as a Mountie.

and the bunny rabbits from Guess How Much I love You. If this doesn't sell on it's own, I may add the book. I think I have it here somewhere.

What 5 Dollars Bought And Other Finds

A vintage table lamp. I can't seem to stop buying these. My living room is starting to look like the lighting section of Home Depot. I love the milk glass shade. I was so happy when the guy told me it was only 5 bucks, that I paid right away without checking to see if it worked. It works but there are exposed wires near the base and near the plug. Are we allowed to sell on Ebay if it has issues? My husband can rewire it but I would rather list it right away. Anyone know?

It looks like my two facebook sales are a bust this week. The one wrote to me and apologized saying she wasn't able to make it. The other one was suppose to be here an hour ago so I basically wasted my whole morning waiting for him. Honestly, just call and cancel. Don't leave me hanging.

Here are some other things I found yesterday, some at the thrift and others at the Goodwill.

Relic handbag. I might keep this. It holds my Kindle nicely. I do have it listed on my facebook group but I doubt anyone will want to pay my price. Everyone there wants garage sale prices.

Two snowy owls. I can't seem to resist owls either.

Birthday Care Bear

and some more plush I found at Goodwill.

Thrifty Finds

We went to Goodwill last Monday and I found another Babblin Boo doll. Remember Boo from Monster's Inc? These dolls used to sell for high prices. I'm not sure they get those prices anymore but I should be able to make a few dollars on her. She is missing her teddy, pants and socks.

I also found a FurReal Friend baby parrot. I thought it was the one that is worth money but that is the bigger blue parrot. I also bought some Care Bear figurines.

I wasn't sure if the Little Einsteins Dominoes were good sellers. I decided to get them anyway. Unfortunately when I checked the prices on Ebay, they were going for less than $10 and those were the ones with a box and instructions. The cars socks and Max and Ruby book are for Ryker. All the other items are for sale in my Ebay store.

Garage Sales Finds and The Thrift Store

On Friday, I finally found some garage sales that were close enough for me to walk to. At the first garage sale, I found 3 toddler puzzles, an A&W mug (to keep) A Blue's Clues guessing game and a wind up Smurf (gave to sister)

paid $2.25

The next sale was a bust. The prices were too high for my liking. At sale #3, I got 3 Little Golden books for free. The lady said I could have all the books but I did not want to seem greedy. I was a little sad that they put the price on the cover in pernament marker. When I tried to remove it, it left a white spot. These are going in my lot for resale on Ebay.

When I entered the 4th sale, the guy running it asked me if my husband drank Miller beer. I thought that was an odd question as I did not see any beer items there. He also said I could have any toy for a quarter. I passed and left quickly.

Sale number 5 had a lot of girl stuff and I only found 2 items: Perfect Bear Care Bear and another Little Golden book.

paid .25 cents

The last sale I scored some more Little Golden books and a bucket of legos for Robbie. I noticed the seller had a vintage kitchen chair and I asked if he had any more. I was hoping he had the whole set. He only had the one. I left it there as I could not carry it while pushing a stroller. As I was walking away, I thought I really want that chair. I figured I would go back later in the day with my sister who has a car.

paid $2

My day would not be complete without a trip to my favorite thrift store. (I actually went there first before the garage sales) I really had to have the Sherlock Hound dog I saw there earlier this week.

paid $1.58

My sister came over in the afternoon and I bribed her with the Smurf figure to take me back to garage sale #6. I told her if the chair was not there to keep driving. I was going to offer him $3 but willing to pay up to $5. We got there and it was not sold. Before opening my big mouth, I asked him how much he wanted. He said it was marked $1. I practically threw the money at him in my excitement to grab the chair!

paid $1

We then went to another thrift store on the other side of town. I am selling it all except the boots. Those are for Ryker. Hopefully his feet will grow another size before the snow gets here.

paid $2.11

total spent for the day: $9.19 possible profit: $65 - $85
